The bright segment is what Yanmar TL65RS-1C is rated to carry; the grey run past it is the rest of its tipping load. Bar length is tipping load drawn to the same scale on every machine on the site, so a short bar is a smaller machine and not a conservative rating.

Yanmar's radial-lift mid-frame track loader, and the machine that opened the brand's CTL line in 2023: 67 hp, 2,100 lb rated capacity and a torsion-axle suspended undercarriage, built at the ASV plant in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. It runs a steel-embedded rubber track, which is what separates it from the TL65RP that now sits beside it on Yanmar's Posi-Track undercarriage at slightly lower rated capacity.

Suits: Smooth-riding, agile radial lift with Yanmar's engine pedigree, for landscapers and rental users Its radial lift path reaches furthest at mid-height, for digging, grading and backfilling.

What owners report

Summarised from the sources listed below. Nothing here was tested by us.

Maneuverability in tight places is the brief here, and Yanmar has been straightforward about it: this machine is aimed at jobsites where an operator needs to balance power against getting the loader through the gap in the first place. At 67 hp, 2,100 lb rated capacity and a radial lift path on 12.6-inch tracks, it is a construction, utility and rental machine rather than a turf one.

The undercarriage is the part that separates it from rigid-frame rivals. Both torsion axles are suspended and there is a pivot link at the rear axle whose stated job is reducing oscillation, which in practice means material stays in the bucket when you cross a rut at speed instead of ending up behind you. Heavy-duty bar-tread steel-embedded tracks suit the hard-surface work this machine is pitched at, and they are the reason to choose it over the Posi-Track TL65RP for anyone working around rock and debris. The operator station is genuinely good for the size - near-360-degree visibility, a 7-inch display, a mechanical suspension seat, two-speed travel and a removable roof hatch all standard. The options list is where attention is needed: telematics, the rearview camera, adjustable joysticks, the air-ride seat and the all-weather cab are all extra, and several of those are standard equipment on the Posi-Track machine sitting next to it.

Firm ground in confined spaces, for a contractor or rental fleet that wants a dig-and-grade machine rather than a truck loader, and who would rather have steel-embedded tracks than flotation. If you spend real time on lawns, wet ground or finished surfaces, the TL65RP is the better match at 4.2 psi and 9.1 mph, at the cost of 100 lb of rated capacity. Before signing, price the options individually rather than as a bundle, be certain which undercarriage the quote describes - the names differ by one letter and the machines differ underneath - and establish how far away the nearest Yanmar parts and service counter really is.

What owners like

  • Two suspended torsion axles with a pivot link at the rear axle, fitted specifically to reduce oscillation and stabilise the machine, let an operator carry a full bucket across rough ground faster than a rigid-frame rival without spilling it.
  • Visibility is a real strength - low sightlines, large glass and close to 360-degree views with a removable roof escape hatch, which is better than most small-frame machines bother with.
  • A 7-inch colour display with fuel, temperature and hour monitoring, a mechanical suspension seat and two-speed travel are all standard, including the two-speed, which is a paid option on several rivals.
  • 21.4 gpm standard at 3,480 psi is decent for a 67 hp radial machine, and the 26.7 gpm high-flow option at 3,771 psi handles smaller mulching heads and cold planers.
  • The radial lift path and a 6,000 lb tipping load give confident digging and grading manners, and 2,100 lb of rated capacity at 35% of tipping is an honest number for the frame rather than a flattering one.
  • The heavy-duty bar-tread steel-embedded tracks are the right choice for construction and hard surfaces, where the all-rubber Posi-Track belts on the P models wear noticeably faster.
  • Two years/2,000 hours on the machine plus a separate one year/1,000 hours on the tracks is generous coverage from a brand still establishing itself in this segment.

What owners complain about

  • SmartAssist telematics, the rearview camera, adjustable joysticks, an air-ride seat, the foot throttle and the all-weather cab are all options. The Posi-Track TL65RP beside it includes telematics, the camera, adjustable joysticks and LED lighting as standard, which reverses the usual assumption about which machine is better equipped.
  • The radial lift path limits reach and dump height at the top of the arc, so loading a tall dump truck is harder than with the vertical-lift machines above it in the range.
  • At 8,575 lb open ROPS it is heavier than several competing small-frame radials, pushing trailer and tow-vehicle requirements up more than buyers expect.
  • 12.6-inch tracks leave it at 5.7 psi, which is fine on construction ground and poor on turf - the TL65RP on the same frame manages 4.2 psi.
  • Yanmar has only built compact track loaders since 2023, so long-term field data past a few thousand hours barely exists and the used market has not priced a first-generation Yanmar CTL for trade-in yet.
  • The dealer network is visibly still being assembled - Yanmar announced several North American expansions through 2026, including growing one Southeast partner from eight to 14 locations - which is encouraging for the future and cold comfort when a hose fails on a Friday.

What buyers ask

What is the difference between the TL65RS-1C and the TL65RP?
The undercarriage, and a lot follows from it. This machine uses Yanmar's own steel-embedded bar-tread tracks on suspended torsion axles with a rear pivot link; the RP uses the ASV Posi-Track all-rubber fully suspended system. The RP runs at 4.2 psi against 5.7, travels 9.1 mph against 7.5, and weighs 1,170 lb less - but is rated 100 lb lower at 2,000 lb. Two quite different machines, one letter apart.
Is two-speed travel standard?
Yes, two-speed is standard on this machine, along with the 7-inch colour display, mechanical suspension seat and four LED work lights. What is optional is SmartAssist telematics, the rearview camera, adjustable joystick controls, the air-ride seat, the foot throttle, high-flow hydraulics and the all-weather cab with heat and A/C. Price those separately before comparing quotes.
Does radial lift matter for what I do?
It matters most when loading. A radial arm follows an arc, so reach falls away at the top and loading a tall dump truck is a compromise compared with the vertical-lift TL75 and TL80 machines. For digging, grading, backfilling and general dirt work the radial path is if anything preferable, since it puts more of the machine's force forward where you want it.
How much can it really handle for hydraulic attachments?
21.4 gpm standard at 3,480 psi, or 26.7 gpm at 3,771 psi with the high-flow option. That covers augers, grapples, brooms, trenchers, cold planers and smaller brush cutters comfortably. Full-size mulching heads are beyond it - those want the 34.3 gpm TL80 machines or the 41 gpm TL100s - and a 67 hp engine limits what extra flow could deliver anyway.
Is it too heavy for a standard trailer?
At 8,575 lb with open ROPS, or 8,915 lb with the cab, it is heavier than several competing small-frame radial machines and needs a trailer and tow vehicle rated well beyond what the 67 hp figure suggests. Add a bucket of wet material and an attachment in the truck and the combined weight climbs quickly. Work the numbers before you assume your current setup covers it.
How risky is buying into a new CTL brand?
The machine itself is well specified and backed by two years/2,000 hours plus separate one-year/1,000-hour track cover. The genuine unknowns are field history past a few thousand hours, since Yanmar has only built these since 2023, and resale, since the used market has not yet priced a first-generation Yanmar CTL. Dealer proximity is the third variable and the one you can actually check before signing.
