The bright segment is what Gehl VT360 is rated to carry; the grey run past it is the rest of its tipping load. Bar length is tipping load drawn to the same scale on every machine on the site, so a short bar is a smaller machine and not a conservative rating.

Gehl publishes no list price for this machine, and we found no dealer listing worth quoting, so there is no number here to give you. What we can say is what the machines around it cost: the middle half of the 19 track loaders within 15 per cent of its capacity list between $92,000 and $114,464. That is a fact about them, not a quote for this one.

Flagship of Gehl's track range and the largest machine the brand sells, rated 3,600 lbs at 35% of tipping load on a 12,161 lb frame. It shares the 114 hp Deutz TCD3.6 and 40 GPM high-flow option with the wheeled V360 launched beside it in September 2025.

What owners report

Summarised from the sources listed below. Nothing here was tested by us.

Topping Gehl's track loader range, this is built for the contractor who wants one machine to grade, clear, load and mulch rather than a dozer plus a CTL plus a rental. Manitou's product manager described an industry demand for a larger frame - what the company calls internally an extra-large frame - and pitched the range against Caterpillar, JCB, Takeuchi and Case in the super skid steer class. The 114 hp Deutz is the largest engine Gehl fits to anything.

Where the design attention went shows up from the seat and underneath. Lift arms slope away from the operator so soil and mulch fall off instead of building up, hoses run inside or under the arms, and the roof slopes forward into a large skylight. The undercarriage received forged hardened sprockets, dual-flange idlers and triple-flange rollers, with boom suspension made standard. Hydraulics are load-sensing with variable rate flow control, letting an operator meter flow to what an attachment actually wants, and there is an adjustable creep mode with a boost pedal for planers and brooms. Controls are seat-mounted pilot joysticks rather than electro-hydraulic, and the IdealAccess bi-folding door stores in front of the operator instead of needing swing clearance.

As a production machine for land clearing, forestry and heavy truck loading it only makes sense if it works most days. Gehl publishes no price, so everything is a dealer quote, and the platform is too new for a used market to check one against - get competing numbers on a Case, Takeuchi or JCB of similar capacity first. Before signing, confirm the high-flow and hydraulic boost options are specified, ask exactly which track options exist and what a set costs, and establish how far away the nearest dealer stocking large-frame parts really is.

What owners like

  • Rated 3,600 lbs on the conservative 35% basis against a 10,287 lb tipping load, so the headline understates the machine - the same loader reads over 5,100 lbs on the 50% basis that wheeled skid steers use.
  • The undercarriage was redesigned for this platform with steel-forged hardened sprockets carrying a corrosion inhibitor, dual-flange idlers front and rear to resist de-tracking, and triple-flange rollers to cut vibration.
  • Comfort ride control - boom suspension - is standard rather than optional, which reduces spillage and matters on a machine expected to carry loads any distance.
  • IdealTrax automatic track tensioning is managed from the in-cab display, tensioning on start-up and relieving tension at shutdown, which is what extends track life and removes a scheduled tensioning chore.
  • 40 GPM high flow with up to 82 hydraulic horsepower on the boost puts it in genuine forestry-mulcher territory, and Gehl sells a purpose-built forestry package with impact-resistant doors, guarding, a swing-out cage and an integrated recovery winch.
  • A 136-inch hinge pin height alongside 10,624 lbs of bucket breakout covers both halves of the job - loading high-sided trucks, and digging the pile in the first place.
  • The patent-pending sloped lift arms shed material rather than collecting it and open sightlines above and below the boom, the clearest single change from the previous large-frame Gehls.

What owners complain about

  • New in September 2025, so there is no accumulated owner experience of this undercarriage, these final drives or this cab - every durability claim is the maker's, not a service history.
  • At 12,161 lbs before attachments, transport stops being an afterthought: trailer rating, tow vehicle and licensing all have to be planned around it.
  • Undercarriage and final-drive replacement scale with machine weight and this sits near the top of the class, so budget tracks as a recurring line item rather than a surprise.
  • Two-speed travel runs to roughly 9 mph against the 12 mph the wheeled large-frame machines manage, so long carries are genuinely slow.
  • The Deutz engine means a second parts and service relationship for anyone whose other Gehls are Yanmar-powered, and Deutz coverage is a separate question from Gehl's own.

What buyers ask

Why does the VT360 quote 3,600 lbs when the wheeled V360 quotes the same?
Gehl rates track loaders at 35% of tipping load and wheeled skid steers at 50%. The VT360's 3,600 lbs comes off a 10,287 lb tipping load; the V360's comes off 7,200 lbs. Identical headline, very different reserve - always check which basis a quoted capacity uses before cross-shopping brands.
What does IdealTrax actually do?
It tensions the tracks automatically when the machine starts and releases that tension when you shut down. Slack tracks at rest means less standing load on components, and it removes the periodic manual tensioning other machines need. On this platform it is controlled from the in-cab display.
Can it run a forestry mulcher?
Yes, and that is one of the jobs it was designed around. The 40 GPM high-flow option with up to 82 hydraulic horsepower on the boost will turn a large head, and Gehl offers a forestry package with impact-resistant doors, guarding, a swing-out cage and an integrated winch for recovery. Specify the package at order - retrofitting guarding afterwards is expensive.
Is two-speed travel worth having on a machine this heavy?
It helps, but temper expectations: it runs to roughly 9 mph against 12 mph on the wheeled large-frame machines. If much of your day is carrying material several hundred yards, a wheeled machine or a compact wheel loader will move more in a shift regardless of what tracks do for traction.
What should I check before buying this early in the platform's life?
Frame, arms, undercarriage and cab are all new as of September 2025, so no independent durability record exists yet. Get the two-year, 2,000-hour warranty terms in writing, find out where the nearest dealer holds large-frame parts, and if unplanned downtime would hurt, consider waiting a season while the platform accumulates hours in the field.
