Yanmar TL80VS-1C

The bright segment is what Yanmar TL80VS-1C is rated to carry; the grey run past it is the rest of its tipping load. Bar length is tipping load drawn to the same scale on every machine on the site, so a short bar is a smaller machine and not a conservative rating.
One caveat on this machine: we could not find a published tipping load for it, so the figure above is its advertised capacity divided by the fraction its maker rates at. That makes the grey run arithmetic rather than a measurement, and it is the number worth asking a dealer to confirm.
Wide-track version of Yanmar's mid-frame vertical-lift track loader, completing the steel-embedded TL line the brand rolled out through 2023-24. It shares the 71.5 hp turbo Yanmar diesel with the TL75VS-1C but adds a wider stance, 2,900 lb rated capacity and 5.1 psi ground pressure, built in Grand Rapids, Minnesota alongside ASV.
Suits: Low ground pressure and flotation with vertical-lift truck-loading height Its vertical lift path reaches highest at full extension, for loading high-sided trucks and stacking.

What owners report
Summarised from the sources listed below. Nothing here was tested by us.
Yanmar's steel-embedded mid-frame sits in an awkward and interesting place: it is the most capable of the S machines at 2,900 lb, and since August 2026 it has shared a showroom with a Posi-Track machine one letter away in the model name that floats better, travels faster and weighs 655 lb less. Yanmar's own framing is that the Posi-Track machines are "engineered for exceptional traction and performance on soft, wet, slippery, rough, or hilly terrain" while the steel-embedded models are "designed for durability and performance in construction and hard-surface environments". Which is to say a TL80VS-1C and a TL80VP are not two trims of one loader.
On its own terms this is a well-judged construction machine. The 15.7-inch bar-tread tracks put down 1,884 square inches and 5.1 psi, a full psi lighter than the TL75VS-1C, and the suspended torsion axles with a rear pivot link damp the oscillation that throws material out of a bucket. Standard flow of 24.7 gpm is strong before options, high flow takes it to 34.3 gpm at 3,771 psi, and the published 10-foot 6.5-inch bucket pin height is a number you can measure a truck against. Staying under 75 hp keeps DEF off the machine entirely, though the DPF and its regen cycles remain. The catch is the options sheet: telematics, the rearview camera, adjustable joysticks, an air-ride seat and climate control all live on the paid side, which is a genuine reversal against the Posi-Track machines beside it where telematics and the camera come standard.
It is the right call when your ground is firm, your work is construction and hard surfaces, and you would rather pay for steel-embedded tracks that shrug off rock and debris than for flotation you do not need. Buy the TL80VP instead if you spend real time on soft or finished ground. Before signing, get the options priced individually rather than as a package, confirm which undercarriage the quote describes, and find out where your nearest Yanmar parts counter is - the network is expanding quickly rather than already being dense, which is a promise about next year rather than a fact about a breakdown this month.
What owners like
- 2,900 lb rated capacity at 35% of an 8,286 lb tipping load is the highest of Yanmar's steel-embedded mid-frames and 345 lb up on the TL75VS-1C sitting beside it on the same 71.5 hp engine.
- 15.7-inch tracks with 60 inches on the ground give 1,884 square inches of contact and 5.1 psi - a full point lighter than the TL75VS-1C's 6.1 psi, which is the clearest difference between the two machines in daily use.
- Standard auxiliary flow of 24.7 gpm is genuinely strong for the class before you option anything, and the 34.3 gpm high-flow package at 3,771 psi puts mulchers and cold planers properly within reach.
- A published 10-foot 6.5-inch maximum bucket pin height means you can check it against the trucks you actually load rather than guessing - Yanmar does not publish this figure for any of its Posi-Track models.
- At 71.5 hp it stays under the threshold that brings a DEF system: Yanmar's spec sheet lists a 5-gallon DEF tank on the 103.5 hp TL100VS and none here, so it is one less fluid to stock and one less system to fail.
- Both torsion axles are suspended and there is a pivot link at the rear axle whose stated purpose is reducing oscillation and stabilising the machine, which is what lets an operator keep a full bucket moving across broken ground.
- Two years/2,000 hours on the machine plus a separate one year/1,000 hours on the tracks - the track cover is the unusual half, since most makers exclude tracks as a wear item from day one.
What owners complain about
- The standard equipment list is thinner than the brochure impression. A mechanical suspension seat, fixed joysticks, a 7-inch display, roof panel and rear window are standard; SmartAssist telematics, the rearview camera, an air-ride seat, adjustable joysticks, foot throttle and heat and A/C are all options. Price the build sheet line by line, because the Posi-Track models in the same showroom include telematics and the camera as standard.
- It is the same 71.5 hp engine carrying 405 lb more machine than the TL75VS-1C, so it works harder climbing or mulching with a full load.
- 9,610 lb at the open-ROPS weight, before a bucket of material, needs more trailer than buyers tend to expect from a 71.5 hp machine.
- The DPF stays even without DEF, so short-cycle operators will meet regen interruptions.
- The TL80VP now covers the same ground at 3.9 psi and 9.1 mph, 655 lb lighter, and arrives with telematics and camera standard. This machine's remaining case is its steel-embedded track, its published lift height and 100 lb of extra rated capacity - not that it is the newer option.

Yanmar's radial-lift mid-frame track loader, and the machine that opened the brand's CTL line in 2023: 67 hp, 2,100 lb rated capacity and a torsion-axle suspended undercarriage, built at the ASV plant in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. It runs a steel-embedded rubber track, which is what separates it from the TL65RP that now sits beside it on Yanmar's Posi-Track undercarriage at slightly lower rated capacity.
