It has more bucket breakout force than the larger ST45, more standard hydraulic flow, and the lowest ground pressure of all five models at 4.3 psi. Buyers who work from the spec sheet rather than the model number tend to end up here.

The flotation comes from 17.7-inch tracks with 58.9 inches on the ground, which is a real difference from the 12.6-inch tracks on the ST31 below it - on soft ground these are not comparable machines despite being adjacent in the range. Hydraulics are 23 gpm standard and 33 on high flow, the best pairing among the 74 hp models. The engine is the Kohler KDI 2504 with a passive oxidation catalyst and exhaust gas recirculation, so no regeneration cycles and no exhaust fluid. The cab tips forward and the cooling package swings up for service. Against all that, it is the slowest machine in the range in both travel ranges, and at 72 inches it is eight inches wider than the ST31.

Landscapers and site contractors on soft or finished ground, running attachments and staying within a work area rather than crossing acreage, are its people. Before signing, measure your tightest access against 72 inches, be realistic about whether 5.8 mph suits how spread out your work is, and ask the dealer what diagnostic documentation they can actually provide.

Why would I choose the ST37 over the larger ST45?
Because on several measures it is the stronger machine. Bucket breakout is 7,042 lbf against the ST45's 6,941, standard flow is 23 gpm against 22.1, ground pressure is 4.3 psi against 4.6, and it is six inches narrower. The ST45 gains capacity, tipping load and six inches of hinge pin height. If you dig and run attachments more than you lift high, the smaller machine is the better buy.
How much better is the flotation than the ST31's?
Substantially. The ST37 runs 17.7-inch tracks with 58.9 inches on the ground for 4.3 psi; the ST31 runs 12.6-inch tracks for 5.7 psi. That is the difference between working and rutting on saturated turf, and it is the main reason to step from one to the other. The lift geometry is identical at 128.5 inches, so you are not giving anything up on height to get it.
Is the ST37 slow?
It is the slowest of the five, yes - 5.8 mph in low range and 8.7 mph in high, both lower than the smaller ST27 and the ST31. Two-speed with auto shift is standard, so it changes range on its own, but the ceiling is the ceiling. On a compact site that costs nothing; across a spread-out property it costs real time every day.
Does it need DEF or run regenerations?
Neither. The Kohler KDI 2504 meets its emissions standard with a passive diesel oxidation catalyst and exhaust gas recirculation, so there is no particulate filter to regenerate and no exhaust fluid to buy. Only the 100 hp ST50 at the top of the range uses selective catalytic reduction and therefore DEF.
Is 3,700 lbs a fair comparison with other brands?
Only against brands that also rate at 50 percent of tipping load, such as Case and New Holland. Most makers use 35 percent, which holds more back in reserve at the same number. Wacker Neuson publishes its 35 percent figure as 2,590 lbs, and the tipping load is 7,400 lbs - use either of those for a cross-brand comparison.
Will it fit through a gate?
Seventy-two inches is too wide for most residential gate access. If that is a regular requirement, the ST31 at 64 inches or the ST27 at 60 inches are the models to consider, though the ST31 gives up most of this machine's flotation advantage to do it.
